ORIENTATION/ AWARENESS

Orientation to Performance Excellence
This training provides an introduction to the Criteria for Performance Excellence and is the prerequisite for other more in-depth sessions. It is an essential first step to the continuous improvement journey.

  • Identify strategies and techniques for getting started using the Criteria for High Performance
  • Focus on the relationships required for success form key stakeholder groups
  • Identify the principles of organizational change

    Provide a framework for using an entry-level assessment instrument to determine organizational effectiveness

    Prerequisites: None
    Length of Workshop: 2 days

Continuous Improvement: A Practical Way of Getting Better for Classroom Teachers
This session is the basic orientation overview designed for classroom teachers to begin creating an environment for classroom learning.

  • Awareness of basic Performance Excellence Criteria and core values
  • Rationale for use of Performance Excellence Criteria as a framework for classroom improvement
  • Initial assessment of the classroom learning system
  • District/school connections

Planning for Performance Excellence:
A Systems Approach to School Improvement Planning

A trained consultant will meet with key senior leaders from your organization to collaboratively work on School Improvement Planning.

  • Develop strategic goals, measures and indicators that will set direction for the school
  • Develop an improvement plan for the school

    Prerequisites: None
    Length of Workshop: 2 days

Leading for Performance Excellence Part I: A Focus on Application and Deployment
This workshop focuses on the management and improvement of leadership systems to support performance excellence. Leaders will learn about the systems components needed to build a high performing school or district. Time is provided to work on the district or school quality implementation and training deployment plan.

  • Understand the leader's roles and responsibilities for leading integrated management system to achieve performance excellence.
  • Learn to support effective work teams. All participants will develop a plan for leading a multi-level process improvement initiative.

    Prerequisites: Orientation to Performance Excellence, Planning for Performance Excellence

    Length of Workshop:
    2 days

Teacher and Student Partnerships Part I: Building Classrooms for Learning
Introduction to the classroom learning systems with specific focus on development of classroom goals and measures as a foundation to classroom implementation.

  • Develop grade-level team goals, measures and indicators that will set direction for the classroom planning
  • Develop an improvement plan for use in the classroom to deploy down to students

    Prerequisites: Continuous Improvement: A Practical Way of Getting Better
    Length of Workshop: 2 days
DEPLOYMENT COMPONENTS

Teacher and Student Partnerships Part II: Tools and Techiques for Performance Excellence
Teachers and students participate in tools training to support the on-going improvement of the classroom learning system and key classroom processes.

  • Increased understanding of continuous improvement categories and core values as applied to the classroom
  • Strategies of implementing continuous improvement at the classroom level
  • Development of goals, measures and an action plan of next steps
  • PDSA application

    Prerequisites: Teacher and Student Partnerships Part I Length of Workshops: 1 Day
ASSESSING SYSTEMS CAPACITY

Assessing Performance Excellence: Facilitated Building Assessment Process
A trained consultant will spend time meeting and interviewing your staff to conduct a school assessment using the Performance Excellence Criteria. Leaders will receive feedback on areas of strengths and recommended next steps.

  • Provide school with a written feedback report prepared by a process improvement expert
  • Establish baseline data and recommended actions for setting school priorities for improvement and refinement

    Prerequisites: Orientation to Performance Excellence Workshop
    Length of Workshop: 1 day on site plus feedback meeting at a later date

CAPACITY

Building a Technical Support Team Level I
This session focuses on the concepts and learning strategies required to introduce a systems approach to continuous improvement. Materials that support building awareness and commitment at the district, department, school, and classroom are reviewed in this session. Participants will receive Train-the-Trainer certification on the following content:

  • Orientation to Performance Excellence
  • Continuous Improvement: A Practical Way of Getting Better for Classroom Teachers - 2nd Edition
  • Continuous Improvement: A Practical Way of Getting Better for Support Staff

    Prerequisites: Continuous Improvement: A Practical Way of Getting Better
    Length of Workshop: 2 ½ days

Building a Technical Support Team Level II
This level focuses on the concepts and learning strategies required to coach and mentor educators in applying a systems approach at the classroom level training. Materials that support classroom implementation and deployment include:

  • Teacher & Student Partnerships Part I: Building Classrooms for Learning -2nd Edition
  • Teacher & Student Partnerships Part II: Tools and Techniques for Performance Excellence - 2nd Edition

    Prerequisites: TSP Part I and II
    Length of Workshop: 3 days
