Scott Forester - TIMS Technology Manager
Scott has been in education for 19 years. He earned his Bachelors in Chemistry from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1989 and his Masters in Computer Education and Cognitive Systems from the University of North Texas in 1995. Additionally, he completed his administrator certification in 1999. Prior to taking his current position, Scott taught chemistry and physical science at Haltom High School for 7 years. Scott views the mouse as his favorite technology tool. Regarding the near future of educational technology, Scott stated, "I am looking forward to the time when tablet PC's are affordable enough for the district to provide every child with a computing device." Scott has been married for 16 years and has a daughter, a furry 4 legged son, Peekaboo, and a furry 4 legged daughter Snowball, and he is a huge Disney fan.


Kelli Montgomery - Instructional Technology Coordinator
Kelli has been in education for 19 years.  She graduated from Tarleton State University with a Bachelor's of Science degree in Elementary Education with an early childhood specialization.  She received her Master's of Educational Administration degree in May 2007.  Kelli taught in First and Third grades for 12 years before joining the BISD team.  Kelli's favorite technology tool is the Internet. Kelli states, "The Internet and Web 2.O empowers our students and creates exciting new learning opportunities. There is no end to the potential of learning available to our students. The world is no longer flat." Kelli lives in Granbury with her husband, two children, a daughter Macaul and a son Mason, and their special rescued dog Abby. 

 

Maxine Moore -Instructional Technology Administrative Assistant
Maxine has been with Birdville ISD for 16 years, the last 9 as a TIMS department secretary. She attended Rutherford - Metropolitan School of Business. Her primary duties include managing the department's finances, materials and supplies, and handling the scheduling of department events. Maxine's favorite technology tool is the computer. Maxine resides in North Richland Hills with her husband, and has two grown sons.

 

Dwight Goodwin - Dwight is in his 15th year in education. Having earned his Bachelors degree in History and Psychology at Abilene Christian University, Dwight completed his Masters in Educational Administration at the University of North Texas in 2005.Dwight taught 7th and 8th grade social studies for 13 years prior to joining the BISD Instructional Technology team this year. Dwight's favorite technology tool is digital video/video editing. He looks forward to working with students as they complete distance learning activities with people from around the world. Dwight has been married for 5 years and has an infant son. He enjoys golf and watching sports (in high definition, of course!).




Teresa Lawson
- Teresa is starting her 16th year in Education. She received her Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Special Education from Tarleton State University. Teresa received her Master's of Educational Administration from Dallas Baptist University in May, 2008. Her experiences in the classroom range from Resource, Content Mastery, First Grade and Third Grade. Distance Learning is Teresa's favorite technology tool. “Electronic interactive field trips, interactive video conferencing, and campus to campus DL connections allows students and teachers to go beyond the walls of the school and fosters collaboration and higher levels of achievement in the major subject areas. I love they way it engages students.” She is looking forward to helping teachers use technology to reshape the way students collaborate and construct knowledge. Teresa has lived in Stephenville with her husband for the last 28 years. She is blessed with three children, a daughter and two sons, and one grandson.

 

 

 

Cheryl McKnight - Cheryl is in her 23rd year in education. She has a Bachelors degree from the University of Texas at Arlington in Elementary Education/English and an MS in Educational Computing from Texas A&M Commerce and K-12 Tech Apps Certification. Cheryl was a classroom teacher for 16 years in Kindergarten before moving into technology.  She has been a Technology Specialist for 6 years prior to coming to BISD this year.  "One of my favorite technology tools is digital cameras because it gives students an opportunity to explore a medium that is often new to them.  Digital cameras can be used in all areas of the curriculum to bring the real-world into the classroom."   Cheryl is looking forward to venturing into the world of Distance Learning in BISD and promoting project based learning through this avenue.  She has been married for 25 years and has 2 children, a daughter who is a college senior and soon to be married, and a son who is a high school junior.



Jeff Samuelson -
Jeff Samuelson is completing his 17th year in education.  He attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education with an emphasis in Social Studies.  Jeff began his career teaching 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies in his hometown of Liberty , MO. Jeff moved to Texas and taught 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies in the HEB ISD school district. Jeff worked as an ITS his last two years in HEB.  He is in his 5th year as an ITS for BISD.  Jeff's favorite technology tool is the COW…computers on wheels.  “I love the flexibility of the laptops and the excitement they generate when placed in front of students.  Students will climb mountains for you when you bring them such a powerful tool for learning,” he says.  Jeff lives in north Ft. Worth with his wife and his two beautiful children.



Jeff Womack - Jeff is in his 12th year in education. He earned his bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of North Texas in 1994. Jeff is a former 4th, 5th, and 6th grade math and science teacher. He is in his fifth year as an ITS for BISD. Jeff's favorite technology tool is the global positioning system, or GPS. Jeff has been married for 5 years and has a 2 year old daughter and a son on the way.

 

 

Jon Norris - Jon has been in education for 13 years, the past 3 as an ITS. Jon earned his Bachelors in Agribusiness from Arizona State University in Tempe and his Masters Degree in Education/Instructional Technology from Arizona State University in Angelo. Prior to becoming an ITS, Jon was a resource/inclusion middle school science teacher. His favorite technology tools include Audacity software and COWs (computers on wheels) with wireless laptops. Jon says, "I am looking forward to project based lessons, that will push my schools toward higher levels of engagement and  higher scores." Jon's interests include all forms of "human powered locomotion: running, biking, hiking, swimming, kayaking, and sailing. These keep the kids 16, 13, and 10 busy in the summer and off of the video games."


Denise Pinder
- Denise has been in education for 25 years, and she is in her 5th as an ITS for Birdville. She earned her Bachelors degree in Secondary Education at Texas Tech University and her Masters in Mathematics at Texas Women's University. Denise's favorite technology application is video editing. She is looking forward to greatly increasing the use of video production in the curriculum in the coming months. Denise is also a very proficient Photoshop user. Denise has two children, a daughter, a college student, and her son, who is a senior in high school.


Randy Rodgers - Randy is in his sixteenth year in education. He obtained his Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Oklahoma Baptist University in 1991, and earned his Masters in Reading Education from the University of North Texas in 1997. He has taught 4th grade, 5th grade, and 6th grad science. This is his fifth year as an ITS for BISD. His favorite technology tool is the digital camera. Randy is excited about the future of the district and campus websites. "This will be one of our biggest, baddest tools, as we add new features that make our sites more interactive. Communication will be done in realtime, podcasting will mean users no longer have to search for information, and multi-media elements will expand the school day and opportunities for students." Randy has been married for 12 years and has two children, a beautiful 6 year-old daughter and a wonderful 3 year-old son.

Kathy Sales -Kathy Sales has been in education in BISD for 31 years having taught every grade 7-12 and junior college. She earned her bachelor's degree at Texas Tech and her master's at Texas Woman's University. Her teaching experience includes English, German, and Reading . Before becoming an ITS in 2005, she was ELA department chair and English teacher at Birdville High School . She has found educational technology to be very fulfilling and challenging and looks forward to the improvements in education through technology. She says her teaching was dramatically impacted when she received a laptop and an LCD projector through a grant while teaching at Birdville High School. Kathy's husband is the former Assistant Athletic Director for BISD, her older son teaches Latin at Flower Mound High School, and her younger son is a junior at Texas Tech. The family is rounded out with their dog Tex.

Karen Teeters -Karen is in her 24th year in Education. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Vocational Education from Texas Woman's University in 1981 and a Computer Literacy teaching certification in 1986. She taught Life Management Skills for three years and Computer Literacy/Technology Applications for sixteen years at Smithfield Middle School before becoming an Instructional Technology Specialist five years ago. Karen enjoys working with each of the technology tools currently used in today's schools and is always eager to help students and teachers incorporate new tools into the learning process. Karen has been married to her husband, an 8th grade Science teacher, for 21 years. They live in north Forth Worth with their son, an 8th grader, and their daughter, a 5th grader. Also, part of the family is their beloved dog, Magic.
