Computer Competency Initiative

The Computer Competency Initiative (CCI) is based on technology standards developed by the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) for beginning teachers and the The ISTE
National Educational Technology Standards (NETS•T)
and Performance Indicators for Teachers.
BISD teachers demonstrate knowledge and application of digital skills and how they can be used for productivity, student engagement, teaching, and learning.

All new contract employees hired at the beginning of the 2008-2009 school year have until March 2010 to finish these CCI requirements.
All new contract employees hired at the beginning of the 2009-2010 school year have until March 2011 to finish CCI requirements.

For your convenience, there are 3 ways to complete these requirements:

1. Complete, with a score of 80% or above, the following online BISD test group Skillcheck assessments using the designated computer on your campus, or at the TIMS building (located at 3126 Carson St., Haltom City):
Excel
Internet Explorer
Outlook
PowerPoint
Windows
Word - Standard
Word - Advanced Skills (face-to-face attendance of a BISD Instructional Technology training may be substituted for this online test, if desired)

2. Complete the BISD CCI e-Portfolio option. Users will create and submit authentic artifacts demonstrating the professional application of skills. Click here to view the details of this option and download the Submission Form (see step #5 for form).

3. Complete a combination of some Skillcheck tests and e-Portfolio options (simply indicate on your BISD CCI e-Portfolio Submission Form which online assessments you completed).
