The Birdville Independent School District, led by Superintendent Dr. Darrell Brown, believes that athletics is an avenue by which young minds and bodies gain great benefit. The Birdville Independent School District's secondary schools are members of the University Interscholastic League (UIL), the governing body of athletics in Texas. Eligibility requirements for participation must be met as set by the UIL. The Birdville Independent School District competes at the 5A level in numerous sports with Haltom and Richland High Schools and at the 4A level with Birdville High School. Seven middle schools also participate in numerous sports offered by Birdville Independent School District.
