provides speech-language services to children 3-22 years of age
who are considered to demonstrate "speech impairment."
What
Does "Speech Impairment Mean?
"Speech Impairment
means a communication disorder, such as stuttering, impaired articulation,
a language impairment, or voice impairment that adversely affects
a child's educational performance.
How
Is Eligibility for Speech-Language Services Determined?
Birdville ISD
will use information from a variety of sources including parent
referral information, observation, and evaluation by a certified
speech-language pathologist to determine eligibility for speech-language
services.
An Individual
Education Planning Team Committee determines the services provided.
The parents are part of this committee.
Where
Are Speech-Language Services Provided?
The speech-language
pathologist at the child's neighborhood school provides therapy
services.
